Ellis combine argent massif et pierres ramassées sur les plages écossaises dans des pièces uniques combinant le brillant du métal et l'aspect mât des galets, le précieux et le non-précieux.
I am inspired by the un-even, the honest, and the imperfection of the raw landscape. That which is fractured, unpredictable and pure is my source of study and reflection.
I use processes such as casting and fusing in unorthodox ways, in order to induce a sense of natural unpredictability into my jewellery.
I question what can be regarded as precious, through working exclusively in silver and uncut ‘found’ stones from the beaches of Scotland. These compositions evoke the subtle beauty of nature; allowing the organic elements to be the focus of the work. The silver houses the forms, finding strength only once it has been marked and textured.
