The color! Colors!

We can observe an infinity of colors which vary according to their brightness, intensity and luminosity. The color is not only a physical and perceptive phenomenon; it is also a very complex cultural construction which it is very difficult to analyze and to summarize. 

In society, the color plays an important role in many fields: faiths, customs, conventions... It is a real language (symbolic, descriptive, commercial...) directed by the culture and the individuals. 
The color has a real influence on us and our behavior. It is not the same zones of the brain that are activated when colors are cold or hot. The color can influence our well-being and it by means of our unconscious. 

Every color brings us a different sensation. Blue, color of freedom, stimulates creation. A blue sky or a blue sea produce on us a pleasant effect. The green, associated with the nature, reassures and calms. Red, warm and stimulating color, symbolizes love and seduction but also danger, forbiddance. The orange represents the cheerfulness and, by allusion to the sun and to its heat, brings comfort. Companies using orange are perceived as dynamic and turned towards social opennesss... Certain brands are directly recognizable by their color (Coca-Cola's red, Chanel's Black and gold, IKEA's yellow). 

Nevertheless, paradoxically, we live in a prudent world where there is less and less color. The main part of sales in textile industry in the West revolves essentially around black, white, grey, ecru and navy blue. Many fashion designers are dressed in black! Our environment wears out and excessively uses white and grey (offices, hospitals, schools). 
On a daily basis, the colors of our clothes, fabrics of our environment as well as those of the objects of our common life are the expression of our personal taste influenced by the sociocultural context in which we are immersed. 

And you, what colors move you? What is the color or which are the colors will you choose? Witch nuances do you want to work with, which gradation or which color palette? 
Jewels must be thus colored: one or several colors very present or, on the contrary, discreet!

Are you a contemporary jewelry creator ?

You are an experienced jeweler or a young creator, an artisan/craftsman or a designer who’s looking for a sales outlet. You draw singular jewelry pieces for women or men, realized with traditional techniques or using new technologies (laser cut, 3D printing, peculiar materials,...). 
You would like to show your creations during five months, from March 2016.

Candidacy : 

To participate, create a minimum 5 pieces with color or colors. Pieces will be thoughts in a sober and simple design, minimaliste view. 
Send pictures of each piece with a brief explanation, materials used and the price (the artist price without the commission and the VAT).
The selection will be on January 31 2016.

The concept store : 

« ICKX Contemporary Jewelry » is a new sales outlet in Brussels in a old mansion ideally located in Georges-Henri place. This concept store is specially for contemporary jewelry creators . ICKX is an intermediary between customers and creators and sets up a consignment system . The goal is to promote talents : a new opportunity for some and a springboard for others. The purpose is to present original creations to a wide public.
